Use a good firewall to block all incoming connections from the Internet


A strong passwords is difficult to crack password files on compromised computers, therefore always enforce a password policy to prevent damage in case of a computer being compromised


Always deny all unwanted incoming connections.



Almost all the operating systems install auxiliary services By default which are not very necessary but may prove avenues of attack and If they are removed, the threats will have less avenues of attack therefore turn off or remove all unnecessary services .

Restrict to work with administrative privileges on your PC. Standard users don’t enjoy the privileges of accepting software.


Always sure before that the program asking for administration-level access is a legitimate application before giving the root or UAC password.


Keep file sharing off when not needed.


To prevent auto launching of executable files always keep AutoPlay Disabled on network and removable drives.


Keep Bluetooth turned off when not in use and if necessary, ensure set the visibility to "Hidden" so that it cannot be scanned by other Bluetooth devices.

Disconnect the drives when not in use. 


If write access is not required, enable read-only mode.


Block or remove all emails with attachments with extensions like .vbs, .bat, .exe, .pif and .scr. These are commonly used to spread threats,


If device pairing needed be used, all the devices are to be set to "Unauthorized", requiring authorization for each connection request.


Always keep your antivirus software up to date.


Never open attachments of unexpected emails.


Never execute software downloaded from the Internet without scanning for viruses.
