A  driver is also a software and like all other functions of the windows network adapter too need a software to work, in other words a network adapter also need a drive for the smooth working of the  network. A driver is also required for the network adapter on your computer for properly configuring your Windows network.

From where you will get the driver for network adapter


Almost every computer manufacturer  provides all essential software including LAN Drivers on one or more CDs. You may get the network adapter driver on CD provided by the manufacturer, from your computer vendor. You can search your required driver on http://www.softwarepatch.com also and download it. However, It will be a best option to download the network adapter driver from the official website of your motherboard manufacturer selecting your mother board and OS version.

Process to install drivers for network adapter


Method-1

Insert the CD containing the LAN in the CD drive and open it.

Select LAN
Carefully read the “Readme” file.
 
Here you will see options like ‘Intel’ ,‘Realtek’ etc., please double click one depending on your hardware and Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to install the drivers.


Method-2

o install drivers for your network adapter by using Device Manager

Locate the media that contains the driver for your network adapter.

If you get the message  “A network adapter was not found” page, Open Device Manager to install drivers.

In Device Manager, click the Action menu, and then click Add hardware.
In the Add Hardware Wizard, click Next, and then follow the instructions in the wizard.

Method-3

To install drivers for your network adapter by using Windows Explorer

On the A network adapter was not found page, click Browse to open Windows Explorer.

Navigate to the executable file that contains the driver, and then double-click the file to install the driver.

Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to install the drivers.

Open Device Manager.

Select  Network adapters

The network adapter name.

Press and hold or right-click the network adapter.

Select  Uninstall.

Delete the driver software for this device check box.

Press OK to confirm you really want to uninstall it.

After uninstalling the driver Restart windows.
